Baby Carrier Rental- from Little Damia SSC Rental Services

Assalamualaikum, 

Within this tight schedule...I nak cuba share one good service. 

Baby Carrier Rental Service. 

Since Imani is now a toddler, she no longer fits in our own baby carrier. And of course, I tak plan untuk beli a toddler size carrier yet sebab Imani dah berlari sana sini and I pun rarely use it unless travelling overseas. 

Imani 18 mo

Assalamualaikum Imani Hafiyya,

Princess Umi dah masuk 18 bulan hari ni. Alhamdulillah, Imani sihat sepanjang 18bulan melihat bumi Allah SWT ni...
Umi nak tulis ni untuk Imani baca bila dah besar nnt yer (itupun kalau blogspot ni masih wujud)..

Pada usia 18bulan, Imani dah pandai buat beberapa perkara tau..
Imani rajin sgt tolong umi dengan ayah buat kerja rumah, contohnya bila nampak umi or ayah bawak bakul baju yg nak dibasuh, Imani mesti cepat2 ikut pergi tunggu depan washing machine. Walaupun belum cukup tinggi, Imani cuba nak masukkan baju busuk dalam washing machine.

Kalau nampak baju yg dah siap dibasuh dalam bakul, Imani cepat2 get ready tunggu depan pintu rumah. Lepas tu Imani akan tolong jemur baju dekat ampaian kita. Walaupun tak cukup tinggi lagi, Imani sangkut semua baju di bahagian bawah ampaian. Terima kasih princess umi sebab rajin. Moga nnt dah besar pon rajin tolong umi dgn ayah yer.

Imani Hafiyya 18bulan. Ni gambar adik dekat rumah tok dad dan nenek di Terengganu. 

Adik ni walaupun 18bulan dah, tp berat masih kurang 10kg, baju size 6-12 m pon padan lagi tu.. 

Cuma Umi perasan adik ni jenis tinggi, kurus..

Ramblings on Friday + baby wearing story

Assalamualaikum, 

Salam hari Jumaat. 

Arini kena half-day lagi. 

Since hari rabu aritu, baby sitter Ilyaas Imani tak sehat. deman. 

tadi pagi hantar pon dia belum kebah demam lagi. 

Nasib baik anak sulung dia cuti arini, so si kak long tu jaga kejap Ilyaas Imani. 

Kejap lagi nak balik amik dorang. 

Emmm, thinking of nak bawa dorang gi amik bekalan ubat kat hospital pantai. 

sebab nanti nak pegi travel jauh, senang kalau dah ada bekalan ubat yg serasi dgn dorang. 

kat sana nnt, confirm la nak beli ubat demam ubat batuk kena doctor's prescription even nak beli kat farmasi pon. alaaa setakat nak amik ubat demam, ubat batuk, ubat selesema. ubat cirit still ada bekalan. 

eh, sorry tau. bebel tak tentu pasal. tajuk pon dah ramblings kan. merepek je la yer...

dalam kepala ni dok pikir macam2..especially part nak pergi travel ni. 

i mmg suka travel. 

tp i tak suka situasi prior-to-travel. 

sbb i jenis akan plan apa nak kena bawa, apa nak packing etc. 

tp nnt bila packing , barang yg di list tu tibe-tibe bertambah. 

rasa semua benda important nak bawa. especially barang2 untuk anak-anak. 

satu lemari pon nak pack.hahahah 

nak pilih handbag mana yg nak bawa pon jadi masalah. 

sampai husband ckp takpe, bawa yg buruk.sampai sana abg beli baru...

I was like, eh betul ke laki aku yg buat statement mcm ni??? 

kedip2 mata pandang dia sambil masa tu badan bergantung 4/5 jenis handbag (semua lama2)...

happy la dgr husband bg green light nak beli handbag baru...

bukan pe, klu travel nak bawa beg kecik2, mmg tak berguna. purse sendiri pon dah panjang. 

yg penting, beg kena besar.boleh muat masuk diaper clutch. 

dan kena jenis silang. 

klu setakat selit celah ketiak tu, tak confident la nak jalan sana sini. 

at least klu sling bag, apa2 hal, sangkt kat dada suami. 

biar dia bawa. 

tu baru pikir bab handbag. klu bab kasut. masalah gak tu. 

bab baju tidur. baju jalan. 

haiyaaaa....

nak share gambar baby wearing. lama dah kan xletak apa2 entry pasal baby wearing ni.biasa mmg carry imani je dlm satu satunya carrier yg kitaorg ada. apa lg kalau bukan merak ssc from neezaneedles. can read my earlier review about this carrier in 2011. 

lama dah I beli carrier ni, tahun 2011. agak2 muda beberapa bulan je dari umur Ilyaas. 

alhamdulillah, masih kukuh, masih tahan, n warna pon tak pernah luntur. 

had served me very very well. 

I jarang2 try back carry. dulu beberapa kali back carry Ilyaas msa nak memasak. time dia crancky. 

Imani always been in front carry since lahir. sebab dia tak la berat sgt. still 8.kg je skrg. 

aritu gi tesco for quick shopping.berdua dgn imani. 

i've decided to back carry her. 

ingtkan susah la nak pakai sendiri .

rupanya senang je. 

imani pon suka sbb dia nampak benda kat depan. 

pi beli udang, dia dok ckp2 ikan ikan.

And yesterday, kitaorg keluar gi jusco. cari snow fleece jacket untuk Ilyaas Imani;.

sampai jusco time lunch hour. mmg peak gila2 ramai orang. 

anak2 plak dah ngantuk sgt. 

Ilyaas dok mintak suruh ayah dia dukung. 

Imani masa tu dah dlm stroller tgh mamai nak sleep dah ..

maka i decided to back carry ilyaas. dalam carrier yg sama. 

kelakar sikit. sbb ilyaas kan dah besar panjang.

dia dok peluk2 umi sambil kepala lentok kat blkg badan. 

dia ckp dia ngantuk nak sleep.

but the carrier nampak kecik utk dia. 

perhaps i kena consider beli toddler carrier for him

btw berat ilyaas dah 15kg. 

tp i dukung dia tu rasa equally distributed weight.just dat, 

pinggang i ni dah dua kali kembang kuncup mengandung n beranak kan diorang ni, 

maka ada la jugak rasa lenguh2 tu...

patutnya ayah dia la kena carry dia..

tp my husband lately ni segan silu benar nak pakai carrier gambar dinosour ni.

orang rasa comel je.

Imani in Ringsling

Ahad lepas, kitaorg gi dinner kat Subang Parade. Antara shopping complex yang I rasa convenient nak bawa baby and toddler. Entah kenapa I suka maybe sebab ada banyak kedai jual barang baby, ada MPH, ada surau yg bersih, baby changing room yang nice juga. Plus banyak restoran untuk di pilih kalau nak makan kat situ.

So, I did try wearing Imani menggunakan ringsling baru. entah la betul ke tidak cara pakai ni. Cam dalam gambar kat atas ni...Betuk ke tak eh expert2?
I rasa cam kekok sebab takut Imani jatuh tergolek. Dah ketat tp rasa mcm tak menampung bontot Imani ?
Tp bila hands free cam ok je. Probably I dont have much confident kot compare to wearing baby using soft structure carrier. Sebab dah terbiasa sangat dgn ssc...Lagipun Imani cam ngamuk2 kejap pastu tidur lena je dalam both carrier, ssc and ringsling.

Ada sapa2 berminat ke tak kalau I nak letgo ringsling ni? walaupun ada rasa sayang nak letgo, tp mcm lebih prefer untuk pakai ssc kot..

So sapa2 yang berminat let me know ya, boleh comment je..or email me k...I baru pakai 2 kali je.Kejap2 je and dah hand wash sekali untuk lembutkan fabric..

Eh! Ringsling pulak ye:P

Dulu ber-SSC. sekarang nak cuba Ringsling pula ye.

Sapa yang dok baca blog picisan ni mesti tau masa Ilyaas 3/4 bulan camtu, I did purchase soft structured baby carrier from NeezaNeedles. Sat nak cari entry pasal SSC ni. 

haaaa, ni entry review pasal SSC ni. Tapi yang saya beli design 2011, skrg 2013, design dah improved dah.setakat dok usya kat page NeezaNeedles tu la. Harga pun dah naik jugak la:P

Ok, back to the title. Aritu, ada family member pi Bandung, so ada la kirim kain cotton kat dia. 

Ni la ringsling saya

Bila tengok kain yang corak cam kat atas ni, tibe2 je rasa nak buat ringsling. lepas baca-baca pasal jenis2 carrier yang wujud dalam dunia ni. So, kebetulan ada appointment dgn Liza owner SnuggBaby, saya pun mintak opinion dia. She said the fabric mmg suitable for ringsling and total meters that I had is more than enough for a ringsling. Of course la I got lots of discount. Hahhahah, janganlah tanya kenapa, sebab saya pengedar tetap Snuggbaby Diaper Clutch, kalau Liza xnak bagi discount, ku tak mahu order la dgn dia:P

First time cuba, Liza la tolong ajarkan. Pastu terus pakai pergi shopping groceries. Masa pakai tu, rasa selesa je la. Baby pon tido nyenyak je. Tp still bila compare dgn SSC, rasa pakai SSC lagi best kot. Maybe sebab dha terbiasa. 

So, I tried pula pakai balik SSC ni last weekend masa gi Subang Parade. imani nampak selesa jugak. tido je memanjang dalam tu. Terus la terpikir2 nak jual je la balik ringsling ni.. Tapi, cehhhh ada tapi tapi lagi... Jauh di sudut hati rasa cam ruginyeeee ringsling ni lawaaaa...pink gitu..sayang nak jualll....plus dia tak menggangu bahagian luka czer dulu, so bila pakai takde rasa pressure kat luka, berbanding kalau pakai ssc, ada jugak rasa2 pressure kat luka tu...

maka, dgn itu, saya pun gigih la tengok youtube cara  yang betul nak pakai ringsling with newborn. camne nak selesa etc. I found this one video. Cam best dan mudah. ni ha link video tu http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Wsh8v4AHT0

Jadi, tak nak la jual ringsling ni. Saya basuh dulu. Sebab kain ni tak pernah basuh lg...nnt nak try lagi ringsling ni. pastu nak amik gambar.hahahah, camwhoring la:P

Cerita Weekend

Gi visit Zarifa kat Shah Alam. Alhamdulillah, dapat jugak bertemu my niece yang sgt2 strong. She's a true fighter. Membuatkan I sentiasa ingat I harus wajibulghunnah menghargai anak-anak I. A self reminder. 

Zarifa dah dapat balik rumah. Alhamdulillah. Dah tak perlukan bantuan oksigen lagi. Dia dah boleh sleep together dgn mama dan ayah dia. Dapat jumpa kakak2 dia hari2 setiap masa, InsyaAllah. 

Apapun, Zarifa mmg seorang baby yang sgt2 kuat. Umie Athi doakan Allah sentiasa beri yang terbaik buat Zarifa ye. 

Lepas dah visiting my niece, pi jalan2 kat subang parade. Apa lagi, mak cik yang baru lepas pantang ni bila dapat chance cam gini tak kan nak lepas peluang walaupon pulus nan ado.hahahha

Punya la semangat plan dalam otak nak beli itu ini untuk anak-anak. Untuk diri sendiri tak de rasa nak membeli sgt, sebab I is still gemuk. Baik pakai baju apa yg ada.

Sebab kitaorg ada satu je stroller, so Imani has been chosen untuk di carry oleh umi while ayah menolak Ilyaas sambil menjaga keselamatan anak-anak sedara yang lain. Mula cam tak berapa yakin nak carry Imani pakai SSC Merak Buckle Tie ni . Aritu ada try ringsling snuggbaby.tp lagi tak kompiden, sebab belum prektis betul2 lagi. so try la ssc ni. sebab dah biasa masa Ilyaas dulu. Luckily Imani cam syok je dok dalam tu. Tidur je sepanjang dalam carrier. nangis bila nak susu. pastu sambung tido. 

sebiji mcm mak sedara dia. tidurrrrrr sajaaaa..

seb baik ada anak sedara sulung ni. fahim la dok tolong melayan Ilyaas. isk, janji ngn fahim nak beli buku kat dia tak sempat pon. dek melayan kerenah Ilyaas yang ngamuk dalam MPH. buku umi ayah nak beli pon xsempat. tinggal terus satu bakul dalam MPH tu. selamat lagi la voucher buku rm250 tak guna lagi. nnt la, nak hantar ilyaas gi babysitter dulu baru dpt beli buku2 semua tu. 

nak beli dress kat imani pon tergendala. seluar kat ilyaas pon xdpt. haisssshhh

seb baik lotion imani dpt beli. klu tak ku pulang dgn tangan kosong sajerrrr..

tp semua tu dah di cover sbb mlm tu pi shopping kat aeon setiawangsa.. 

dpat la beli apa2 yg patut buat anak2..

Ahad tu pas brekpes kitaorg terus balik perak. singgah shopping barang rumah semua, pastu balik rumah penat gila dah. gagahkan diri gak lagi kemas2 ..malam tidur mati semua orang. hahah..

tp imani mana ada camtu, tibe2 dia bangun minum susu 2 kali pulak smlm. penat sgt sampai lapar dahaga selalu kot sepanjang malam...

Types of Baby Carriers

It has been some time since I last wrote about baby wearing/ baby carrier.
My last entry pasal babywearing was on May 7, 2012. I was carrying Ilyaas without realizing I am 3 weeks pregnant:P

I still keep my Merak Buckle Tie by NeezaNeedles in a safe, tidy place. Intended to use it again for my second born.

Somehow, I am also interested to try other carrier available on the market. So,  I started googling what's type of carriers we have nowadays.

1. Wrap-around Slings

-using simple strip of cloth
-little learning is required on how to wrap the cloth around your body and make it comfortable for both mummy and baby
-the cloth can be short --> purposely for one shoulder wrap-around
-the cloth can be longer --> purposely for two shoulders wrap-around (this provide better support)
- can be chosen from selected range of fabrics.

2. Ring Slings

 -simplest
-basically, its a shawl attach with a ring that replace knotting of the cloth
-this is a modern version of Indonesian Selendang type carrier (gaya orang dulu-dulu ikat dgn kain batik/sarong)
-ideal for newborn
-sometime, it offers paddings at the shoulder so that the mother/father will feel more comfy when carrying their baby

3. Pouch Slings

 -simplest
-a piece/tube of fabric.
-sometime two types of fabrics are used, usually cotton/lycra/linen
- lack of adjustability
-take up less space in your bag
-suitable for newborn up to 6m

4. Mei Tai

 - modern version of Chinese style carrier.
-with ties at the waist and at your back
- suitable for both parents to use, no need to adjust any buckles etc
- can fit newborn till toddler

5. Soft Structured Carriers (SSC)

- what i have now
-with buckles and strap to adjust with your body panel
- suitable and easy to use
-comes from range of fabric
-ergonomic version of standard modern carrier
-not suitable for newborn. can start once the baby can stabilize his head, probably at 3 months
-suitable until toddler


 Here is a chart from thebabywearer.com that will help us in finding which carrier type is suitable for our needs.

 Hope this helps all of us in finding the correct baby carrier for ourselves, our baby and also our partner, because you won't be carrying the baby all by yourself! Sharing it with your partner is a must=)

Hari Manja-Ilyaas

Assalamualaikum and Hi, 

How was your Monday? Mine was Alhamdulillah, managed to settle few things and get back on track. 

Mula-mula kita speaking dulu, sekarang cakap bahasa sendiri :P

Pagi2 lagi hantar Ilyaas ke rumah babysitter. Halim and me decided to stop sending Ilyaas to nursery, and try on new babysitter, yang duduk setaman dengan kitaorg. Atas sebab-sebab yang kami dah discuss secara hati ke hati. Sayu hati ni, Ilyaas menangis meraung tak nak lepas kaki umi pagi tadi.. Tabahkan hati sebab ni bukan kali pertama hantar dia duduk dgn orang. Dulu time kerja pun Ilyaas duduk ngn pengasuh gak. mungkin dia belum betul2 mesra dgn pengasuh tu, jadi dia rasa tak selamat. 

Pukul 10pg, lepas selesaikan urusan kat Graduate Office, call pengasuh tanya kabar Ilyaas. Hati ni asyik teringat je kat anak..yela, tinggalkan dia dalam keadaan nangis sakan... Pengasuh kata Ilyaas ok je. Lega!

Balik from uni around 5.40pm, Ilyaas tgh tidur nyenyak . Terus angkat dia bawa masuk kereta. Dia tak sedar sampai la nak masuk gate rumah dia terjga. Mula-mula buat muka nak nangis, sekali nampak umi terus nak sambung tidur.. tp, tak sambung nye la..sebab dia cari Miss B . Minum susu fresh dulu..dan menggombeng selama 40 minit. Lama tu..seb baik dah solat asar kat uni, klu tak mau kelam kabut nak solat, nak masak dinner, nak masak makanan Ilyaas lagi. 

Halim gak la yg jadi SimonLela lap lantai rumah dari hujung ke hujung;pastu stress sbb rambut bini dia yang cun ni asyik gugur atas lantai. Thank You Abang for being patient with me..kena belanja Yun Nam Hair Care kot ?

Nak tau apa Ilyaas buat sampai umi dia rasa dia lenjor sangat arini, dia nak di-dukung sahaja! oleh umi ye, ayah tak nak. Rasanya sebab pagi tadi, umi dukung dia, pastu paskan kat pengasuh, so dia fobia kot! and gombeng 40 minit tu mmg pecah rekod la, dah lama tak mcm tu.rasanya masa dlm umur 0-3 bulan je dia gombeng selama itu, tu pun malam2 je..

Dah nak kena dukung, kena pakai baby carrier la jawabnya sambil siap2 nak memasak, basuh botol segala. So, ni la rupanya kami berdua petang tadi...

Muka cebik umi yang penat and rasa bersalah sebab Ilyaas jadi takut lepas dari dukungan umi,

dan muka Ilyaas yang selekah berpeluh2 kena ikat dalam baby carrier bawa masuk dapur. Tapi, honestly dia boleh stay dok dalam tu almost 30minutes ok, jarang la dia nak back carry sampai 30minit, front carry tu lain cerita la siap terlentok lena. ni siap makan biskut sambil2 tgk umi dia basuh botol, tumis bawang, goreng ayam semua..sampai dah rasa tak tahan panas baru dia jerit panggil..."Aaaaaaayyyyyaaaaahhhhh"

mintak diselamatkan dari kepanasan di dapur.Heheh..

Ilyaas started to like back carry now..

I tried few times and he refuses...

Might be he was not comfortable yet at that time

But malam ni, I tried again while waiting for hubby to come back home, 

So that I can do some houseworks too without leaving Ilyaas behind, playing alone (read as playing with wires and suis)

But upon seeing his daddy, he excitedly wants to be out of the Merak Buckle Tai.

Well, good job son! Thanks for compromising with Umi who wants to cook dinner.

Reasons not to carry your baby facing out

I have come across this very informative articles on the web. I think it might give us some clarification why Asian Style Baby Carriers do not promote forward facing carrying. Well, in general, I don't think any parents who hold their little one are doing something bad. So. let's read and understand the details in this article by Elizabeth, the author.

Recently Catherine Fowler of Australia made a comment that parents who face their babies out are “cruel and selfish“.  Actually for the record she said they were “inadvertantly cruel”.  I am not here to judge you ladies and gentleman; a walk around the block with your baby in the forward facing position will probably not reek havoc on your child’s development or health.  I don’t think any parent holding their little ones are cruel.  Carrying your baby facing forward is not the best option.  It’s not “cruel”, but it’s not ideal either.  Embracing your baby, or having them embrace you (like when you’re backin’ the baby) is what your baby is adapted to do and quite naturally the way to go. But when you start to weigh in on whether your baby should maybe change perspectives and face the world head on or not, here are some reasons not to let your baby face out, for your consideration- of course.

Carrying your baby facing out…

1.  Does not support your baby’s legs-

Your baby’s legs should be pulled up to at least hip level if not higher. This is possible only if the fabric covers the whole back of the thigh, to the backside of the knee, or if the carrier has footstraps.  When your baby is facing forwards with legs unsupported, it isn’t that his legs are simply dangling,  his hips and spine are unsupported to and there is simply nowhere for baby to sit.

2.  Makes it tough for the wearer to carry the baby-

It’s much harder to carry something that curves away from your body than something that embraces your body. The wearer has an awkward load and often ends up arching her back to compensate.  Babies bodies are naturally adapted to being carried facing you.

3.  Places undue pressure on groin and may chaff the inner thighs of your baby-

Chaffing is no fun.  Being suspended by your baby’s most sensitive parts is not ideal, especially for little boys.

4. May overstimulate your baby-

Baby’s can face their parents and still experience the world around them and take it in at their own pace.  It is very easy for a small infant to become overwhelmed.

5.  Doesn’t support the head or the neck-

Positional asphyxia is possible when babies have no neck control and their chin falls toward their chests.  Little babies should never be placed in a position that can compromise their airways.  The US Consumer Products Safety Commission recently passed a law that the warning labels of forward facing carriers must state that babies should not face out until adequate head/neck control is acheived. The law does not extend to sleeping infants even though they don’t have control of their necks and supported heads while snoozing.

6.  Makes thermoregulation more difficult-

The flexed position a baby assumes on his mother’s chest is more efficient at conserving heat than chest exposed (kangaroo care thermoregulation benefit).  The baby also has more fat cells (insulation) on its back side than front.

7. Makes it harder to respond to baby’s cues-

With no eye contact it is harder to communicate with your baby, check their airways, see their spit up, see them rooting, and know their needs.

8.  Throws off the baby’s center of gravity-  Most often the wearer will intuitively stick out her pointer fingers for the baby to grab on to and stabilize himself or the wearer will try to support baby’s legs by lifting them up in the front. With no seat and nothing to grab on to in front of him it is tough for baby not to arch his back under the weight of his own body.

9.  May not be so wonderful on your back either-

Carrying a load with an arched spine will give you an aching lower back.
